Villa Origen is an 800 m² holiday home in Zanzibar for an extended family, with the ease of a boutique hotel and the warmth of a private home, designed in natural travertine, sand and rich brown tones. A project by ELE, one of the best interior design studios working internationally from Dubai.
The villa was already under construction when we joined. We reconfigured the space planning and the organisation of the whole plot so the house works better for an extended family on holiday, across three floors. The rooms hold both quiet moments and big family gatherings, with every space designed for relaxation and time together.
Zanzibar's natural beauty and heritage shape the palette: beige, sand and rich brown, with natural travertine as the defining material for its organic texture and gentle variation. Contemporary simplicity meets subtle references to the island's traditional design, so the house feels authentic to its setting.
A serene retreat that combines the understated luxury of a boutique hotel with the comfort of a family home. Contemporary yet rooted in Zanzibar, it is designed for long, slow days and memories shared across generations.
