01 · The story
An English house, renewed
Our client asked us to design the whole of the house. On the ground floor that means the entrance and staircase, a living room, a study, a snug, dining, the kitchen and an orangery that opens to the garden. On the first floor there are four bedrooms, each with its own bathroom.
02 · The inspiration
Classic lines, quiet palette
The mood board keeps the traditional details of an English home, such as wall panelling, panelled doors and fireplaces, and softens them with a pale, layered palette: herringbone oak, textured linen wallcoverings, warm white joinery, natural stone and touches of deep charcoal.
03 · The outcome
The vision
In the visualisations, a glazed, steel-framed internal door draws the eye from the entrance hall through to the dining room and garden. The study is anchored by dark joinery with lit shelves around a large abstract artwork, beside a working fireplace. In the snug, oak cabinets with glass-fronted, softly lit display niches frame the media wall, and deep cream sofas make it the family's favourite room.
