Kunduchi Beach Hotel and Resort is a coastal resort of around 120 rooms in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. We are designing it from the outside in: the façade concept, the landscape, every guest room and suite, the restaurants, the conference spaces and a private villa for the owner, all rooted in Swahili craft. Designed by ELE, one of the best interior design studios in Dubai for hospitality, for a resort in Tanzania.
On the coast at Kunduchi, this resort brings together around 120 rooms, restaurants, conference areas and a private villa for its owner. Our role covers the whole experience: a conceptual design for the façade, the landscape, the common areas and every guest room, from the typical bedroom to a junior suite and a honeymoon suite.
The mood board draws on the coast's architecture and craft: carved timber lattice, rounded arches, soft lime-plaster walls, natural fibres and slowly turning ceiling fans, in a warm, sandy palette.
In the visualisations, timber lattice screens filter the light and frame the beds, arched openings lead between sleeping and bathing areas, and ceiling fans turn above soft plaster walls. The honeymoon suite adds space and privacy, while every room stays cool, calm and unmistakably of the Swahili coast.
